Console Database intends to serve many purposes:
Console Database has been designed for ease of use. The site has been categorised in easily recognizable sections which can be accessed from any page using the menu at the top. All screen resolutions have been taken into consideration when designing this site. Console Database takes into consideration the variations of games and consoles that exist around the world so that people from all continents can benefit from this database. And best of all, Console Database is free to use. You do not have to pay a cent to access the masses of information available to you at Console Database. Our hosting is funded by the advertisements on our pages. Please feel free to check out what the advertisers have to offer if you can use their services. And just for the record; we don't have any of those annoying pop-up ads either. Our advertisements won't interfere with your browsing experience at this site.
In the past, it would have taken up to 8 websites to house the information included in Console Database. Now, you can access all the cheats, reviews, console info, game info, game credits, game pictures, accessories info, instruction manuals and FAQs you could want, all from one easily accessible website.
When you click a link on Console Database, you know that at the other end there will be useful information. Many Database projects start up but are full of gaps and empty pages as the creators expect all of the content to be filled by the visitors. You won't find this at Console Database. That's not to say that Console Database doesn't accept contributions from its visitors. In fact, Console Database relies heavily on contributions from visitors like you to make this database as useful as possible for visitors all over the world. So please feel free to submit any information you have at any time.
Work began on Console Database in September 2000 and the site was uploaded in mid December 2000 under the name of "Dale's Game & Console Database", being hosted with Myqth (Excelland free hosting). In four months, the site reached over 1000 visitors and was number 2 in the top gaming sites at Myqth. Unfortunately, Excelland disappeared in April 2001 and all Myqth free sites disappeared from the web. A few weeks later, though, this site returned as "Console Database", being hosted at Retrofaction.
A new, easy to navigate, user friendly (suits all latest browser versions and screen resolutions) site design was introduced to the site in early 2004. In September 2004, Console Database permanently moved to www.consoledatabase.com.
The Database continues to grow with more information and more sections added to the site all the time. The user base is continually rising as well, with tens of thousands of unique visitors from over 150 countries having visited this site.
