Cheat mode

For cheat mode, start the game and enter the chancellor's house (through the top-left door). While the chancellor talks to you, rotate the Directional Pad clockwise, starting at Up, until the conversation ends. Leave his house, and you should have 9999 gems and unlimited lives.

View ending sequence

To view the ending sequence, hold I and press Right thirteen times at the title screen.
