To get extra gold, go to the jail beneath Midenhall and talk to the prisoners. One of the prisoners will turn into an Evil Clown. Defeat the Evil Clown to get the Staff of Thunder. Sell the staff to get 9500 gold, then save the game and turn off the system. Turn the system back on, resume the game, then fight the clown again to get another staff, which can be sold again for more gold.
