Always Win

If you are losing the race, press Select. The CPU-controlled cars will stop and you will slow down gradually, preventing you from retiring. Now, put the gear at 6° and press Start, then hold Up and then press Start again. The RPM will go to the maximum and you will. Continue doing this until the car gets to the finish line.

Hint: Fast acceleration

For a fast start, put the gear at 6º and press Start. Then, hold Up and press Start. The RPM will go to maximum.

Hint: Always win

If you are losing a race, press Select to cause the CPU-controlled cars to stop. You will also stop, but at a slower pace to prevent you from retiring. Use the fast acceleration trick to keep going (put the gear at 6º and press Start, then hold Up and press Start). The car itself will stop gradually and you must keep using the fast acceleration trick until you arrive at the finish line.
