For an alternative ending sequence, collect the five Chaos Emeralds and complete the game. A new background with Sonic and the emeralds you collected will be shown during the credits. Note: Only Sonic can get the Chaos Emeralds.
Collect 100 Rings and you will be sent to a special stage. In the special stage, you will be in the sky with a rocket-powered skyboard. To get the Emerald, stay in the middle of the screen. You will be sent to it automatically.
