Race as a horse

To race as a horse, hold Diagonal Up/Left, A, B, X and Z and press Start at the title screen. Release the buttons when the next screen appears and choose the "Saturn Mode" option. All ten cars and a set of horses should be selectable. A second set of horses can be accessed by finishing first on the beginner track in endurance mode using a horse. Horses and the yellow car do not lose speed if they leaves the track and will race on the grass for a limited amount of time.

Additional cars

For additional cars, hold Diagonal Down/Right, L, R, C and Y and press Start at the title screen. Six additional vehicles will be available for selection.

Maniac mode

For maniac mode with increased difficulty, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, then C when the Sega logo appears. A chime will confirm the code has worked. The letter 'M' will appear in the top left of the screen during game play to indicate you are in maniac mode.

Turbo start

For a turbo start, hold B and press C at the starting grid of the Advanced or Expert courses, keeping the RPMs between 6500 and 7000. When the race begins, release B but keep C held.

Toggle speedometer unit of measure

To switch to metric (kilometres per hour) or imperial (miles per hour) units of measure on the speedometer, hold X, Y and Z on controller 2 and press Start on controller 1 at the title screen. The speedometer will be calibrated to metric in the North American version of the game. The speedometer will be calibrated to imperial in other version of the game.

Full pause screen

For a full pause screen, pause the game, then press X, Y and Z simultaneously.

Slow lead car

For a slow lead car, hold Z during a race.

No tyres in demo

To see a car without tyres in the demo, start a race and enter the pit. Press A, B, C and Start to reset the game while the tyres have been removed from the car. Allow the demo to begin and the tyres will still be missing from the car while it is driving.

Helicopter view

For a helicopter view, choose "Saturn mode" in the mode select menu, then choose any track. Hold Start while selecting a car to race in time/lap mode, then select the replay option after finishing the race. While viewing the replay, press R to view the race from a helicopter's view.

Reversed tracks

To make a mirror image of a track available, select "Saturn mode", then highlight a track on the track selection screen and hold Start and press C. A mirror image of the track will become available for racing.

Endless race

For an endless race, select "Saturn mode", then select any course and begin playing. After one lap, turn around and drive in the wrong direction to display the "Reverse" warning at the bottom of the screen. After completing one lap in the wrong direction, turn around and drive in the right direction again. No final lap will appear.

No opponent cars

To remove the opponent cars from the track, select "Saturn mode", then highlight a car and hold Start and press C on the track selection screen. With this cheat activated, you will also be able to change the camera angles during the replay of the race by pressing L or R.

Jeffrey statue poses

To make the Jeffrey statue on the expert track turn and stand on its head, approach the statue and press X rapidly.

Extra time

For extra time, approach the slot machine that crosses the beginner track and press X to stop each wheel. If "777" appears on the slot machine, extra time will be added to the race clock.

Secret sign

To view a secret sign, turn your car around at the starting line of the advanced track, then drive up the ramp to the right. A sign displaying "CONGRATULATIONS. You Just Lost. Your Sponsors!" will be at the top of the ramp, in the back of the tunnel.

View credits

To view the credits, press Start during the victory lap of a first place finish.

Time Trial mode

For Time Trial mode, hold Start while selecting a car.

Daytona theme song lyrics

To see the lyrics of the Daytona theme song, set the number of laps to normal in the options menu, then choose arcade mode in the mode select menu. Hold Up while selecting a track. Press Up during a race to display the lyrics to the theme song.

Music selection

For a music selection, enter the Key Assign selection in the options menu. Choose type B for the controller setting. Hold A, X, Y or Z (each selects a different song) while choosing a track or car. Hold the selected button until the race starts.

Finish any race on any track, then enter one of the following initials to hear parts of various songs from different Sega games:
